On August 27, 2013, a client's possession of marijuana charge was dismissed in Richmond Hill City Court.  Jarrett & Price partner attorney, Ben Price, successfully negotiated with the city prosecutor to obtain a complete dismissal for all charges, including a traffic offense and possession of marijuana of less than one ounce.  The charges stemmed from a traffic stop and subsequent vehicle search earlier this year.

Federal Health Insurance Plan Accepts Large Reduction

8/21/2013

A plaintiff with federal employee health insurance benefits will have her medical bills paid after months of negotiations by Jarrett & Price and the healthcare plan's sponsor. The plaintiff was in a serious auto accident resulting in medical bills of more than $100,000, as well as a need for future surgery. Citing a contract provision, the plan refused to pay for treatments until the plaintiff agreed to reimburse the plan for all claims paid by the plan on a dollar-for-dollar basis. In August, the plan finally agreed to accept only $10,000 in reimbursement, reducing the plaintiff's obligation to repay the plan by approximately 90-percent.

Saved plaintiff more than $200,000 in recovery funds

8/14/2013

After months of negotiations, the law firm of Jarrett & Price successfully reduced a plaintiff's obligation to repay Medicaid by almost 50 percent. The result will save the Plaintiff more than $200,000 in recovery funds which otherwise  would have been claimed by the lien holders, Wellcare and the Georgia Dept. of Community Health.

Jarrett & Price is one of a few law firms in the country which specializes in resolving healthcare reimbursement or "liens" for personal injury victims. Following a successful recovery through settlement or verdict, healthcare plans or medical providers often assert "liens" against portions of the victim's recovery proceeds. We are hired by other plaintiff's firms to investigate the rights of these lien holders, and attempt to eliminate or negotiate significant reductions to the liens. To date, these negotiations by Jarrett & Price have saved plaintiffs more than $1 million of their total recovery dollars.

Update on Status of Embassies and Consulates from U.S. Department of State

8/12/2013

On Sunday, August 11, the Department of State will re-open 18 of the 19 embassies and consulates that were closed recently. Our embassy in Sanaa, Yemen will remain closed because of ongoing concerns about a threat stream indicating the potential for terrorist attacks emanating from Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
Our consulate in Lahore, Pakistan, which closed yesterday due to a separate credible threat to that facility, will also remain closed.

We will continue to evaluate the threats to Sanaa and Lahore and make subsequent decisions about the re-opening of those facilities based on that information. We will also continue to evaluate information about these and all of our posts and to take appropriate steps to best protect the safety of our personnel, American citizens traveling overseas, and visitors to our facilities.
